{"id":44,"date":"2014-02-07T11:58:17","date_gmt":"2014-02-07T11:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/?page_id=44"},"modified":"2020-05-10T15:39:31","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T14:39:31","slug":"journey-time","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/?page_id=44","title":{"rendered":"Journey Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Journey Time data feed provides details on Journey Times , such as location, configuration and dynamic journey time updates.<\/p>\n<p>The Journey Time data is split across 2 feeds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Journey Time Static<\/li>\n<li>Journey Time Dynamic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The journey time links listed in the API are managed by either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tyne and Wear UTMC, these are prefixed &#8220;CAJT&#8221;;<\/li>\n<li>Highways Agency, these are prefixed &#8220;Section&#8221;; or<\/li>\n<li>Tyne Tunnel2, these are prefixed &#8220;TT2&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The journey times are derived from Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Cameras.&nbsp; These cameras read the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) and apply a non reversible algorithm to provide an anonymous Tag for each VRM.&nbsp; Should a Tag for a vehicle be detected at a camera downstream on the link in question, a travel time is then calculated.&nbsp; An average journey time is then worked out for the link using the matched tags for that period.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that this data is not used for speed enforcement purposes and that operators in the UTMC centre have no access to any of the raw VRM data.<\/p>\n<p>For information regarding the length of the links that are prefixed &#8220;Section&#8221; please see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/HA-Journey-time-links.pdf\">here<\/a>&nbsp;and for links that are prefixed &#8220;CAJT&#8221; please see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/CAJT-Journey-Time-Links.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are also two files which give the typical values for journey times on each link, broken down into five minute intervals for both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Journey-Time-Data-Weekdays.xls\">Journey Time Data Weekdays<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Journey-Time-Data-Weekends.xls\">Journey Time Data Weekends<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The provision of journey times from the HA and Tyne Tunnel 2 is beyond the control of Tyne and Wear UTMC and can at times be intermittent (especially for the two Tyne Tunnel 2 links).&nbsp; It should also be noted that ANPR systems rely on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A sufficient number of vehicles travelling between two cameras to be able to derive an average.&nbsp; Therefore if a road is closed due to an incident no journey time will be recorded.&nbsp; For links with the prefix CAJT if insufficient vehicles are making the journey (i.e. during the middle of the night) free flow speeds are returned.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Being able to read the registration plates.&nbsp; Therefore in extreme weather conditions such as heavy snow, journey times may not be available.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More information on the content of these feeds can be found&nbsp;<a title=\"API\" href=\"https:\/\/www.netraveldata.co.uk\/?page_id=9\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Journey Time data feed provides details on Journey Times , such as location, configuration and dynamic journey time updates.
